On 25th November, many who work to address men's violence towards women will be marking this as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of the ways men harm women and what women and their children need, to be enabled to live their best lives.
Our CEO, Natalie Collins, has written a blog for SPCK Publishing, encouraging us all to consider the ways we communicate about abuse, and the risk of alienating women who do not see themselves in negative portrayals of women as "weak and pathetic"; something that is really only a lie their abusive partner tells about who they are. As part of this she reflects on her writing journey for her book Out Of Control, that was published by SPCK in 2019, and the place of her own story within that.
