Recognition in the Scottish Parliament.

Karen Adam MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament to exmplify the Own My Life course

Karen Adam MSP was so impressed by Grampian Women's Aid's delivery of the Own My Life course that she has lodged a motion with the Scottish Parliament to recognise the importance of the the course in making women's lives better. The motion reads:

That the Parliament commends Grampian Women's Aid for offering its Own My Life course throughout 2021 for women living in the Banffshire and Buchan Coast constituency and the wider Grampian region, which have been held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that Own My Life is a 12-week initiative that provides women with a safe space to build support networks and regain ownership of their lives after abusive relationships; highlights the importance of the women having access to spaces where complex concepts about trauma and abuse are explained in an easy to understand format; notes that the final course of 2021 began on 1 October and that the dates for 2022 will soon be made available; acknowledges that more information can be found by emailing info@grampian-womens-aid.com; hopes that the courses will continue to positively impact the community for years to come, and sends its best wishes for the future to all involved with this work.

We are so encouraged by Karen Adam MSP recognising our work, and are grateful to Grampian Women's Aid and all the other services across the UK and Ireland who are running the Own My Life course. We know it is making a massive difference in women's lives. You can read the motion on the Scottish Parliament website HERE.
