This week, we are saying a massive goodbye to an incredibly valued member of our team, Jo Costello. While it’s hard to put into words just how much Jo has meant to Own My Life, we want to take a moment to celebrate her immense contributions, unwavering dedication, and the deep impact she has had on our work and our hearts.
Jo first joined us delivering our Zoom Coaching sessions, expertly equipping Own My Life facilitators with the confidence and skills to run online courses. From the very start, her knowledge, warmth, and commitment shone through. It wasn’t long before she took on the role of Development Lead, strategically steering Own My Life forward and ensuring that we could reach as many women as possible.
Her meticulous project management and ninja-like spreadsheet skills (seriously, they are legendary!) were the driving force behind our Employability Pilot and Northern Ireland Pilot—initiatives that would not have been possible without her expertise. Jo facilitated Own My Life in the North East for the Tina's Haven project (more information HERE), with her expertise and wonderfulness part of how the course was so brilliant for women. Even after moving on to an important role at Rape Crisis England and Wales, Jo remained a steadfast supporter, overseeing our Polish language translation project (watch this space for its upcoming launch!) and continuing to cheer us on.

On a personal note, I was truly honoured when, in 2023, Jo nominated me for the Inspiring Females award from the North East Chamber of Commerce, which I was fortunate enough to win. In reality, Jo should have been standing beside me at that ceremony because so much of what Own My Life has achieved is thanks to her.
Jo is an incredible cheerleader, a brilliant woman, and a fierce feminist. Her impact will be felt for many years to come, not just by us but by the countless women whose lives have been changed because of Own My Life.
Thank you, Jo, for everything. We miss you deeply, but we know you will always be a dear sister to us. Wishing you all the success and joy in your new role—you deserve it more than anyone!
